Onze kleine Sebastian,

Gisteren was een grote dag voor jou. Je bent van de couveuse naar een bedje verhuisd! Goed gedaan grote jongen. Je bent ook een van je pakjes, maat 44, ontgroeid – WOW!! Blijf zo doorgaan. We willen graag dat je uit al je kleren groeit.

Morgen moet ik weer terug reizen naar de VS en ik wil helemaal niet. Maar ik ben op 11 maart al weer terug. Hopelijk ben je dan al thuis met mama en papa.

PS: Je over-grootmoeder is vandaag 81 jaar oud geworden.

Hi Sebastian,

What are you a big guy already! You drink a bottle every once in a while as well as doing pretty well at mama’s breast.

You’re now wearing a nose mask through which you get some flow. This is slowly being reduced. Very good! Every once in a while you are really awake and looking around. Very cute to watch.

You’re now cuddling nicely with your mama. Enjoy!

I just wanted to send a quick note and wish Sebastian a happy two month birthday!! I’m sure that I’ll never be able to imagine all the travails that you have been through but I’m also sure that as the years go by and we watch Sebastian grow up into a fine young man that we will all know that it’s all been worth it. I wish I could be there with you to celebrate this wonderful occasion but know that I am with you in spirit and think of you constantly. Love and hugs to all.

Ik wilde even snel een berichtje sturen om Sebastian een fijne twee maanden verjaardag te wensen!! Ik weet zeker dat ik me nooit kan voorstellen wat jullie allemaal doormaken, maar ik ben er ook zeker van dat als de jaren passeren en Sebastian zich tot een fijne jongeman ontwikkelt dat we allemaal weten dat het het allemaal waard was. Ik zou het liefste bij jullie zijn om dit fijne moment met jullie te kunnen vieren, maar weet dat ik geestelijk bij jullie ben en constant aan jullie denk. Veel liefs en knuffels voor jullie allemaal.

Dear Sebastian,

What a sweet little man you are! I have the honor of taking care of you tonight and the next 3 nights. What a party. Tonight you were completely awake between 2 and 4 o’clock. I started giving you a bottle around 3:30 and you finished it almost completely. Very well done! Afterwards you went nicely back to sleep. Yesterday you weighed exactly 1600 grams. What a beautiful weight. You’re now lying in your little glass house. You still have a feeding tube and an oxygen mask with about 1 liter of airflow.

That’s a lot fewer wires than you are used to. I read that you ask mama and papa every time: “new diaper please”.

gelukkig hub ich gistere noch ein fantastische foto van dich oetgeprint, do hubs te dien hendjes veur dien auge es of ste zegge wils , noe hubs te genog noa mich gekeke, wil noe effe neet meer. en den hub ich nog ein geweldige foto geprint wo mamma dich dien este flesjke geuf, zo loat ich ederien dich bewonjere.

leeve sebastian weer hauwte zo veul vaan dich en ich kom zoaterdig weer noa dich toe mit tante tini, die wet den neet waat ze zuut want die heet dich den al een tiedje neet me gezeen.

greui mer lekker door zodes te gauw noa hoes toe kens en weer met dich kenne knoemele, weer zeen heel trots op dich klein mupke.

noe goan ich mit opa ete en weer wunsche dich eine feine oavend mit dien pappa en mamma,

daag leeve sjat en tot gauw.

dikke kus en knuffel van dien opa en oma oet sustere!

Hello Sweetheart,

Opa and I really enjoyed being with you last Saturday. You were so cute, and really beautiful (I really mean to say, the most beautiful boy in existence, but I guess all grandmas say that)

You’re doing so well that they have moved you already. I must say that I’m very happy, although I really don’t like the fact that I can’t admire you on the computer anymore.

Luckily, I printed out a fantastic picture of you yesterday. You’re holding your hands in front of your eyes as if trying to say “now you’ve looked at me long enough, no more please”. I’ve also printed out another great photo in which mama is giving you your first bottle. That is how I let everyone admire you.

Dear Sebastian, we love you so much and I’ll be coming to visit you again on Saturday with tante Tini who will be surprised when she sees you since she hasn’t visited in a while.

Continue growing so that you can go home soon and we can cuddle you. We’re very proud of you, little one.

Now I’m going to et with opa. We wish you a nice evening with papa and mama.
