Yesterday Sebastian turned 1 year old. The year leading up to his birthday has not been easy, however we could not be happier with his development. There are really only two things that need some improvement. His stomach is still very weak. The frequency of his throwing up has not reduced at all. The only thing we can do is to keep giving him his medicine until it stops. The second problem is his sleep pattern or lack thereoff. He still wakes up regularly 3 to 4 times a night and nothing we have tried so far has changed that. Unfortunately the doctors and online sources say that this is to be expected from a premature baby. Besides that he is doing great. If you correct for his developmental age he is actually ahead of the game in terms of motor skills. For his birthday we went to the local seaside club/restaurant with some friends and colleagues. Sebastian received a bunch of nice presents, most of which produce some sort of unnerving sound and beautifull flashing lights. He thought they were all great, because he could stick them all in his mouth.

We topped off the party with Sebastian’s first cake. He managed to put his hands in it immediately and get some in his mouth.

He then promptly threw up everything he had eaten before. Somehow he still injested enough sugar to make him wired until about 11pm, whereas he normally goes to sleep around 9pm. Attached is a little video of him entertaining himself once we got home.
